~ CLIPPINGS ~

"This constantly evolving ’80s synth happy punk band is doing a lot of things right. Their sound is contagious. Their just released Gossip With the Devil EP shows a promise few local bands can match. These kids know how to string a pop song together, and since their start in 2005 they’ve only been getting better at it."
Matt Driscoll / Weekly Volcano (Tacoma)

"Seattle group Denelian is making music that somehow has elements of '80s-retro, garage, and euro-inflicted dance music, but it's fun and energetic... will have you rushing the stage with a mob mentality, while also making the dance floor happy at the same time... But don't listen to this non-dancer; go listen for yourself..."
Pedro, Space City Rock

"...Denelian is a well-oiled machine coming out of the Seattle fog. They layer and intertwine without being caught into that horrible web of being cheesy. They allow their listeners to dance and sing and at the same time make their music just as easy to listen to alone. Denelian says “dance!” but also has a quiet call to action that makes this irresistible. They have an ambience that’s eerie and dark but poppy enough to make it benevolent. I was skeptical at first when I heard “Am I Down or Are You High?”. I thought they had a direct influence from She Wants Revenge but Denelian is lighter than that, it’s the context that makes the difference. They have a hint of new wave like the Birthday Party, a creepy happiness..."
Marilyse Diaz, Independent Clauses

"...this youthful Seattle quartet do an excellent job of taking the best of Ian Curtis' rigidity and applying it to the swirling keyboard pop of new new wave... the group's bouncy tunes are sharp as they come."
Portland Mercury

"...You wanna dance? You wanna sing along? Grab Denelian's (August) demo and enjoy. Fast paced and exciting Denelian offers smart indie pop at its best with just enough flash of 80s. Creative organized chaos of sound, this is what the underground scene has been trying to produce."
Elizabeth Benavidez, Artsy Noise

"Three new tunes (Augsut Demo) played in the band's intriguing technical new wave style--kinda like New Order meets the Refused, with much less guitar. Devo and, at times, even the Buzzcocks come to mind. But these guys are much more atonal than yer average 80s retreads. There's something interesting going on."
Aiding & Abetting

"...when Denelian really goes for it they create a raucous, rowdy, fuzzy noise that not only could inspire dancing, it could inspire violence..."
S. Carradini, Independent Clauses

"... there's no denying that Denelian writes solid pop tunes..."
Matt Johnson, Three Imaginary Girls

"... adventuresome melodies and solidly catchy hooks..."
J-Sin, Smother (Editor's Pick)

~ UPDATES ~

8.12.08 - Just a little news from the Denelian camp... first off thanks to everyone who came out to the Chop Suey show last week. We had a great time and the privilege to play with some amazing bands!! We've got a few more dates scheduled so mark your calendars and we hope to see you soon.

Also, we had a chance to play with a very talented Trombone player at practice this weekend (yes, I said trombone!!) and it looks like we may have a new member of the band. As soon as everything becomes official we'll let you know. We are also talking with a very good friend about joining us on keys/synth so stay tuned for some fun changes ahead!!!

Here are a few random shots from the Chop show... what a crazy group of kids!!!

BUT THE WORST THING I EVER DONE - I MIXED A POT OF FAKE PUKE AT HOME AND THEN I WENT TO THIS MOVIE THEATER, HID THE PUKE IN MY JACKET, CLIMBED UP TO THE BALCONY AND THEN, T-T-THEN, I MADE A NOISE LIKE THIS: HUA-HUA-HUA-HUAAAAAAA - AND THEN I DUMPED IT OVER THE SIDE, ALL OVER THE PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE. AND THEN, THIS WAS HORRIBLE, ALL THE PEOPLE STARTED GETTING SICK AND THROWING UP ALL OVER EACH OTHER. I NEVER FELT SO BAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.
